All this arguments leads to the conclusion, that this project is a so called "no-regret-measure". This means however the impact of climate change is, this is the right answer or this is definitely not a wrong way to face climate change.
The problems to overcome regarding effects of climate change are the same in all countries in NWE. Reasonable results cannot be reached with single activities - therefore different actors have to cooperate especially in cities beyond national boundaries. The positive effect of water bodies in the urban areas can give a great contribution to a better climate, if developed into a green-blue corridor. The transformation of the Heerener Mühlbach, connected with the disconnection of storm water, will create a green & blue corridor through dense settlements. The vehicle to bring this green-blue climate corridor to the city is here an existing, but heavily modified water course. This is different to the other Future Cities-investments regarding green-blue combined measures, creating a valuable showcase for adaptation measures in mixed urban situations.
