Future Cities in exchange with German national projects at the conference “How do regions prepare for climate change?”

26th October 2010 in Leipzig

Future Cities took part in a German national conference of projects on adaptation to climate change. Over 35 projects of the regional and local level as well as INTERREG-projects of five programme areas joined for a lively exchange at the conference which was organised by the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development on 26th October in Leipzig. The project manager of Future Cities, Anke Althoff, presented the recent results of Future Cities in the thematic conference session on “Heat stress”. Almost 200 delegates from local and regional authorities and scientific institutions learned about the Heat Map developed in Arnhem and Bottrop, as well as the Future Cities Adaptation Compass; especially the vulnerability check of the local and regional level at the example of Hastings. Further themes of the exchange were “Flooding”, “Instruments” and “Mitigation”. Also, Future Cities took part in the poster exhibition which accompanied the conference.
